Leanna Cavender

A Northern California Artist

Growing up on the Mendocino coast in California, Leanna found a passion for the ocean, fishing, and nature. She developed a love for animals from raising horses, goats, cattle, swine, cats and dogs.

Leanna created her first watercolor painting in 2010 of a horse running on the beach. She taught herself how to use watercolors and she painted often as it was a place to escape from the world. Her peers, teachers, and family knew of her artistic talents and encouraged her to continue to paint.

When Leanna moved away for college to be in a nursing program, she found a new passion for fly fishing with her husband. After she graduated, she moved to a small town in Fall River Mills, CA. Since becoming a new mother in 2023, she picked up watercolor paints and pencils again after several years of attending college.

Painting has always been a big passion of hers and it has always been a part of her life. She is able to express herself through art, which is inspired by the things she loves; fishing, wildlife, nature and the outdoors. Her goal is to remind people of the things they love when they see her artwork, and she hopes to inspire people to get outside and enjoy nature.
